Why I love the air conditioning industry

Do you ever sit back and just think about how lucky you are to have the job you have here in Tampa? I sincerely wish that everyone could love their job because I know from experience that it is an amazing feeling. I actually wake up excited to go to work every day. Even after my years in this industry, there is still so much to learn every single day. This is such a wide field that I’m sure that after many more years, I will still be learning and experiencing new things. Also, technology is always changing, so there are always new and exciting ways systems can operate. I have to keep up with all of these changes to provide the best possible service to my customers. While this is challenging, I enjoy learning these new ways to do my job. It really leaves a lot of room for growth with numerous stepping stones and ladders. With so much to learn, I love working to keep Tampa cool with the latest technology available.

The ideal time to get your A/C system serviced

Let’s describe the typical early November Florida day… evenings are clear and cool; afternoons are sunny with not a cloud in the sky; and mornings are so crystal clear that you can see for miles. If you travel over the causeway, you might see dolphins in Tampa Bay hunting for their breakfasts. Meanwhile, we’re putting the windows down in our cars, opening our windows at home, and breaking out our thicker blankets for our beds… yes, this is the perfect time of the year. Did you also know it’s the ideal time to get your A/C system serviced? Now that you’re not using it as much, take a moment to make a maintenance appointment. What is a SEER rating?

You’ve probably heard us talk about SEER ratings when recommending various products. I want to explain to you exactly what it means so that you are aware of why it matters in your decision making. The SEER rating is an indicator of efficiency and stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating. It measures the ratio of electricity input (KW) to BTU output. What exactly does that even mean? Well, BTU stands for British Thermal Unit. One BTU is the amount of heat it takes to raise the temperature of one pound of water one degree Fahrenheit. Therefore, SEER is measuring how much electricity is being used in relation to how much heat is being eliminated by the BTU output. It’s an accurate measure of efficiency, and I like to use it in making recommendations around Tampa.

The Importance of Air Filters!

With everything available to do in Tampa, purchasing air filters may not seem like the first thing you want to spend your money on. However, there have been many times when I have seen the importance of air filters firsthand. It’s very common for coils to clog up when there are no air filters. This is an expensive problem to fix and it causes a system to lose efficiency and capacity or even to quit working altogether! There are different types of air filters you can choose from to prevent this problem, but you don’t necessarily need to go with the more expensive ones. Sometimes the standard ones is the best option! While the more expensive filters can be very good at filtering air, they can also be restrictive to air flow because they are so dense. This will then hinder the performance of your system. A lot of the washable filters can help with high efficiency but can also be restrictive especially if the filter size is small or border line. You’ll tend to want a larger filter when choosing a washable one. Also, once they start getting dirty, they can be very difficult to clean. Whichever filter you choose, just make sure you utilize air filters before you have to spend a lot more money to fix your system!

My Love For Tampa Bay

“I was born and raised in Tampa Bay, and I am so glad to be able to provide a useful service to this area. I am actually a third generation Tampa resident as my father was also born and raised in Tampa Bay, and my grandmother was born and raised in Ybor City, too. You don’t come across too many people in Tampa that have such strong heritage ties here anymore, so I am proud to be one of them and proud to have a Tampa Bay business. I love the climate and the sunshine here, and I like to be outside, even during the summertime. That said, what a relief to walk into a nice cool, air conditioned home after being outside for a while! I love providing air conditioning services to the Tampa area; this is my home and I love helping my fellow residents stay comfortable.” -Joe Leto
