Residential Air Conditioning Replacement
Installing a New System: It’s All About the Design!
It’s time to replace your heating and/or air conditioning system. We want to help you understand the services you should expect from us at change-out time.A quality installation begins with a professional design
It is important to not merely size a new system based on the old system’s capacity. A professional design needs to be completed. What if your home’s heating and cooling needs have changed since the last system was installed many years ago? What if the original system was not sized properly to begin with? Guesswork can lead to under-sizing your new system which can reduce the comfort of your home. Even worse, over-sizing will add unnecessary expense to the job’s cost and may contribute to moisture-related problems down the line.
It takes time and expertise to complete a professional load calculation and system design. Contractors lacking in the necessary technical skills or who are just interested in making a “fast buck” may try to convince you this is not important. Would you want to ride an elevator or and airplane that was not professionally designed? Quality design is important in virtually every product we use including heating and air conditioning systems.
The Load Calculation is where it all begins
Year-round, comfort is the goal. In the summer, your air conditioning system not only cools your home’s air (sensible cooling), it removes moisture (latent cooling). In the winter, your heating system must keep you comfortable without causing high utility bills.
Independent Air Conditioning uses the Manual J® residential load calculation procedure. Manual J® is the official standard for residential load calculation and is required by many building codes around the country.
We carefully measure your home and evaluate its levels of insulation. Windows’ sizes and quantity will be noted, levels of infiltration will be estimated and internal loads including lighting and kitchen appliances will be taken into consideration. A computerized analysis will be completed that indicates just how much heating and/or cooling capacity your new system should provide. After the installation of your new system is completed, you will receive a copy of the computerized load calculation for your records.
Selecting the right equipment
Heating and air conditioning equipment comes in many capacities, configurations and efficiencies. That’s why it’s important to select the right equipment that will be compatible with your home’s heating and cooling needs based on an accurate Manual J® load calculation.
Don’t forget about your home’s duct system
All too often, old heating and air conditioning systems are replaced without giving any thought to the old duct work. Properly installed and maintained duct work can last twenty years or more. But time, heat and humidity can degrade your duct’s insulation. Over the years, your ducts may have collected contaminates that should be removed.
Think about it. Have some of the rooms in your home been less comfortable than others? Too hot or too cold. Now is the time to evaluate the amount of air each room should get and verify that your duct system is clean and configured to deliver the right air to the right rooms. It may even be time to consider replacing your duct system.
You won’t get the full benefit of your new heating and/or air conditioning system if your ducts need repairing or replacing.
Grilles and registers provide for room air distribution
Your return air grille(s) and supply air registers play an important role in providing heating and air conditioning comfort. There are times when simply replacing one or more of these devices can cause a noticeable improvement in your home’s thermal comfort.
Return grilles that are undersized can reduce the efficiency of your air conditioning system as well as the comfort in your home. We will verify that these devices are sized and operating properly and will make the best suggestion for improved performance.
Selecting the right contractor is key
Buying a new heating and/or air conditioning system is a major decision – ranking just behind paying for your home, your cars and your children’s college education. Selecting the right contractor to design and install your new system is essential. After all, homeowners only buy new heating and air conditioning systems once every ten or twenty years…maybe longer. Making sure your new system is designed and installed professionally is crucial to ensuring your home’s comfort for many years to come.

Ernesto is patient, knowledgeable, polite...you are in good hands with Ernesto
It gave us some time to budget for a new system.
Joe helped us through the process and pricing. He was open and honest....
I couldn't ask for more....we will use Independent Air forever!! Thank you
For reference, we were quoted 2250 for an in warranty compressor replacement on a Bryant unit, which is pretty high considering other quotes came in at least $500 cheaper with no cost for diagnosis. However I'm leaving 5 stars because they were very easy to deal with, and I appreciate the efforts of the technician. There's no reason to knock someone because their prices are higher than someone else's.
Ernesto, the lead tech, assured us it was an old leak, cleaned out coils, blew out condensation line, tried MULTIPLE TIMES to sell us a service agreement (while our whole floor is being ripped up) and $370 later went on his way.
Fast forward 8 weeks later we notice our flooring starting to buckle up a bit.
Call flooring guys back out..rip up brand new flooring only to discover exact same problem. Brand new subfloor destroyed.
Call this company again, ask for owner.
Owner Joe comes out and swears it's not the AC unit and recommends a plumber. Says NAYBE he can get someone to crawl under house to check condensation pipe three days kater. Leaves
Call plumber who crawls under and confirms it is a leaking condensation pipe.
Call Joe back, who argues that it can't be, but he will come check later.
Comes to check later, is shown PICTURES of the leaking pipe that the plumber took, still swears that's not it.
Was extremely rude too but husband.
I'll never use them again. We are new to the area and my nextdoor neighbor recommended them.
After telling her all of this, she confirmed that they screwed up her job and had to fix it again after Joe gave her a hard time.
She has a service agreement with them and I see her unit leaking all over outside.
Run!
They did an excellent job
1. Service
2. Check the overall airflow,
3. Quote for a mini-split.
I waited a week for someone to Just had a horrible experience with Independent Air. The previous owner has a maintenance contract through the end of 2024.
I called for 1. Service, 2. Check the overall airflow, 3. Quote for a mini-split. I waited a week for someone to come out.
The tech gets here and says he can check the unit in general for $89.00. But I need to make another appointment for the service and he can’t tell me about the mini-split, that’s another person and yet another appointment. 🤬
I told him no to everything.
Horrible customer service. I will find another company
EDIT: After receiving my invoice along with a quote for additional work, I thought the price of a part seemed rather high. I was charged $258 for a part that cost $15-$20 anywhere. Their reasons for charging this price was ridiculous.
One of the 4 items on the quote was to clean a condenser coil. The quote was $175. A simple Youtube search revealed the extremely easy procedure to clean the coil. After purchasing a $12 can of coil cleaner at Home Depot, I completed the job in about 20 minutes. My original comment still stands although I will NOT use them again based on this crazy price gouging. There are 2 items on the estimate that another company said I didn't need. I used this other company. The other company performed the needed service for $69. Independent's quote was $872.50 for all the services they said I needed.
Have always been prompt, courteous and knowledgeable. Had to call once for an AC that stopped working. Had someone here same day, fixed the problem during a driving thunderstorm.
Have regular maintenance twice a year. Very satisfied!
Ed Miller, Sun City Center, FL
This occasion my AC wasn’t blowing cold air. Tech arrived and after looking at the compressor unit on the roof for over 2 hours stated that unit wasn’t get power. Long story short, he finally found out that the low voltage wire from the thermostat side that was connected to the compressor unit had come loose. He reconnected the wire and started working fine. The issue I had was the final bill. I thought it might be the service call fee and something added for reconnecting the wire. Needless to say it was a lot more. I shared my feelings on the bill with the tech but paid the bill so he could leave. I texted the company with my concerns. First thing next morning, they called me and discussed my concerns. We came to an agreement on an acceptable amount to both side’s satisfaction. I appreciated their willingness to listen and address the fairness of what was charged for what was done. I give Independent 5 stars for customer service in addressing my issues. Will continue to call them for all my AC issues.
Explains everything needed for us to know answered all questions and made sure we knew with no confusion.

Joe and his team are the Best!
The service tech (Ernesto) was on time, very knowledgable and efficient. He diagnosed a problem in the system and made the necessary adjustments. Ernesto answered all my questions and I have great confidence in this company and the honesty of their employees.
It's great to find a company that is trustworthy.
Update! Still loving them after year 3.

They came and worked on the system
Found the problem, fixed everything and were exceptional. I signed a yearly contract with them.
Knowing I needed ductwork their Representative came, went over everything and have finished the work. I now have everything done with a company I can trust. The work performed was thorough and they cleaned everything out and cleaned up after all their work.
I’m so glad I found an honest, hardworking Company. They’re family owned.

It’s only been 24 hours since the installation, but there is a remarkable improvement from our last installation in the efficiency of cooling throughout the house. It’s almost as if your indoor climate control is quietly working in the background and you barely notice it.
I would highly recommend Independent Air Conditioning to anyone looking for competent and honest professionals. They are top notch.
UPDATE: 7/20/2022
INTEGRITY—HONESTY—TRUSTWORTHY
These are the words that come to mind after came back after installation to do some fine-tuning of my new air-conditioning system. I have a particularly difficult attic, so some further work was necessary to ensure humidity levels in my home were at their proper levels.
Ernesto, who is one of the technicians at Independent air conditioning spent a couple days ensuring that everything was functioning properly and to the manufacture specifications. I can’t speak more highly about Ernesto and his knowledge, skills and ability to troubleshoot problems. He is probably one of the best technicians I have ever had in my home.
As my above review states, Independent air conditioning is a company that you can fully trust for all of your environmental needs when it comes to cooling and heating. Their honesty and integrity is beyond reproach.

to our place and replaced the AC and Heat.
No mess when finished, a nice group of workers.
I highly recommend Independent Air.

The maintenance plan is not just a 5 minute check they work on the unit and really go through the system.
They are the only company I will use.
